These readings draw from nonfiction, highlighting observations about our world that point to God’s creation. From summer ice storms to ice cream, horses to sand dunes, the readings will examine unique aspects of nature and could be added to a nature unit study of your own design. While a part of the Abeka® Grade 5 reading program, this book could be used to strengthen the reading skills of a student using any reading program. Time your student’s reading speed as they complete each of the 31 selections, then they’ll complete the corresponding 7-to-8-question quiz. Each quiz has a place for recording speed and comprehension scores. The selections range from 375 words to 1160 words. The goal is to aim for a reading speed of about 175 words per minute by the end of this book. Comprehension questions are typically multiple choice and true/false.
